2019-20: Griffin made his Ithaca debut during the 2019-20 season...He finished the year with an 18-7 overall record, posting a 15-7 mark in tournament-format and a 3-0 record in duals...He registered 13 bonus-point wins on the year, registering one technical fall and 12 falls...Griffin posted three place-finishes on the year at events including: New York State Championships, NUWAY College Open, and the Jamestown Community College Open...He was an ECWC All-Academic Team selection and an NWCA Scholar All-American. | 2019-20 Stats

High School: Griffin was a four-time qualifier and three-time NYSPHSAA Division 1 State Place Finisher (3rd at 99lbs (2016), 4th at 106lbs (2017), and 2nd at 106lbs (2018))...He earned 2018 Eastern States Classic Champion at 106lbs... Griffin was a three-time NYSPHSAA Division 1 Section 3 Champion (99lbs, 106lbs, 106lbs), while he qualified for the finals five times during his prep career...Griffin was also a four-time NYSPHSAA Division 1 Section 3 Class AA Champion and five-time finalist...He was ranked 15th in the country at 106lbs in the "2016-17 Ranking of Nations Best High School Juniors" (Wrestling USA magazine)...He improved to third in the country at 106lbs in the "2017-2018 Ranking of Nations Best High School Seniors" (Wrestling USA magazine)...Griffin served as a four-year team captain (Team was ranked #25 in the state in 2017 and placed 8th at NYSPHSAA Championships in 2018)...He holds the school record holder for most wins, pins, points for, and state placements.

Personal: Matt is the son of Kathy and Sean Griffin and is in Ithaca's Health Care Management program.
