2017-18: O'Brien once again was one of the best wrestlers in the heavyweight division during his junior campaign...Despite battling through some injuries during the year, he still posted a 29-7 overall record, which included a 13-2 mark in duals...Of his 29 wins, nine came with bonus points, as he notched three major decisions, three technical falls, and three falls...He won division titles at both the New York State Championships and New Standard Spartan Invitational during the regular season...O'Brien punched his ticket to a second straight NCAA Nationals with second-place showing at the NCAA Mideast Regionals...He earned a back-to-back All-America honors for a second straight year, posting a fifth-place finish at the NCAA Nationals in Cleveland, Ohio...He also was included on the ECWCÂ All-Academic List as well as a NWCA Scholar All-American for another season. |

2016-17: O'Brien earned CoSIDA Academic All-District Honors while being named to the ECWC All-Academic List as well. He posted a 29-10 overall record during his sophomore season with a 9-2 record in dual meet bouts. Thirteen of his 29 wins came from decision, while eight came by fall and four from technical fall. He also recorded two wins by major decision during the season. |

2015-16: O’Brien was an immediate contributor for the Bombers, posting a 17-6 overall and a 4-0 mark in dual meet bouts during his freshman season. Of his 17 victories, three came as major decisions, while he also added one technical fall and one pin. O’Brien was named to the ECWC All-Academic Team and the Empire 8 President’s List in addition to earning National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Scholar All-American honors at the conclusion of the season. |

High School:Â O'Brien graduated from Framingham High School, where he earned three varsity letters in wrestling under head coach Jon Kanavich. He served as captain of the squad. O'Brien was named Wrestler of the Year for his league and was a two-time Baystate League All-Star. He earned a state championship and was ranked third in the Northeast. O'Brien also earned Boston Herald/Boston Globe All-Scholastic. He also earned three varsity letters in baseball.Â
Personal:Â Jake, son of Cathy O'Brien and Robin Leone, is a physics major.
