GENESEO, N.Y.-- The Ithaca College men's soccer team picked up its second victory of the season with a 1-0 road win against SUNY Geneseo. The Bombers were led by senior forward
Jack Carney, who scored the lone goal of the contest.
After a scoreless first half, the Bombers got on the board with a goal from Carney. Carney received a pass from first-year midfielder
Edin Estrada and shot it past the goalkeeper low and to the left. This was Carney's second goal of the season in just two games, while Estrada recorded his second assist in as many games.
Despite the close, low-scoring game, the Bombers were able to control the majority of the contest while playing on the road. They outshot the Knights 13-9, including four shots on goal compared to just two from Geneseo. Senior goalkeeper
Brayden Milbrandt stopped both shots on goal and has allowed zero goals on the young season.
Carney led the team with two shots on goal, while the other two shots on net came from sophomore defender
CJ Abbott and senior defender Colin Abrams.
The Knights had an opportunity to tie the game in the final minute with a corner kick from the right side. In a crowded box, sophomore forward Jack DiPalo had a header that missed high and to the left. Milbrandt then launched a goal kick down the field, and time expired, giving the Bombers a 2-0 record.
The Bombers will continue their non-conference schedule when they take on The College of New Jersey tomorrow at 6 p.m. This will be their home opener and one of their few opportunities to play on the turf at Butterfield Stadium.
