ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College men's soccer team continues to roll as it took down Oswego State in a come-from-behind victory on Sunday afternoon, 5-2. With the victory, the Bombers move to 7-0-1 on the year.
The visitors found luck early, seeing a
Dylan Zimmermann yellow card just 16 seconds into the contest on a slide tackle out of bounds. The Lakers wasted no time taking advantage of the situation, scoring 22 seconds into the contest for a quick 1-0 lead.
Both teams battled down the stretch of the first half, but the Bombers could not find an answer in the opening stanza.
Much like the first half, the first score of the period came quickly as Ithaca broke through in the 47th minute when
Joshua Bourdoulous found the back of the net.
Oswego answered to regain a one-goal lead in the 55th minute, making it 2-1. IC found its response 10 minutes later as Bourdoulous found
Jack Carney in the box, who headed it past the Oswego netminder to make it 2-2.
The hosts wasted little time taking the lead, scoring just a minute and 20 seconds later as rookie
Gabriel Robinson recorded the first goal of his collegiate career to make it 3-2.
Ithaca kept its foot on the gas, scoring twice more in the closing 18 minutes. The first came from
Colin Adams, assisted by
Liam Breslin. The fifth and final goal was courtesy of Robinson for his second career goal, a penalty goal at that.
Despite letting up two goals,
Brayden Milbrandt held steady in the box, making three saves for his seventh victory of the season.
Gabriel led the offense with four points on a pair of goals, while Bourdoulous trailed close behind with three points on a goal and an assist.
The Bombers will remain at home this week as they are set to host rival nationally-ranked SUNY Cortland on Wednesday, September 23, in a 7:30 p.m. meeting under the lights of Butterfield Stadium.
