eGENESEO, N.Y. – The nationally ranked Ithaca College field hockey team returned to the win column on Saturday afternoon with a 2-1 win at SUNY Geneseo.
It was the hosting Knights who struck first, scoring with 2:30 remaining in the first quarter to take an early 1-0 lead.
It took no time at all for the Bombers to answer with a score of their own, coming 60 seconds later from
Jaclyn Gilroy, with the dish from
Caroline Folan. The first quarter would come to an end knotted at 1-1.
Ithaca scored again midway through the second stanza to take a 2-1 lead, as
Breeah Shaw collected her third of the season, helped along by
Payton Yahner.
IC continued to push in the second half, registering six shots on goal, all of which were turned aside by Bridget Schafer. Her efforts were too little, too late, as the Bombers secured a 2-1 victory.
The Liberty League Goalie of the Week,
Maeve Clark, made five saves to lock down her fourth victory of the season.
The Bombers will return home on Wednesday, September 16, when they host the Colonels of Wilkes University for a 7 p.m.
United in PRIDE Game.
