Women’s Lacrosse Concludes Regular Season with Win at Skidmore, 12-11

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – The Ithaca College women's lacrosse team finished off the regular season with another close victory as the Bombers downed Skidmore, 12-11, on Saturday afternoon at Wachenheim Field. Ithaca wraps up the season with an 11-5 overall record and a 7-3 mark within Liberty League play.

The game started off with back-and-forth possessions as Kelly Augeri netted the first one for the Bombers jumping out to a 1-0 lead. Skidmore then put in back-to-back goals bringing them up by two. Augeri then fought back finding the back of the net again. With 3:02 left in the first quarter, Aubrey Holowinski netted one. Back-to-back Bomber goals came from Augeri and Taya Dukes, giving the Bombers a 5-2 lead at the end of the first quarter.

After a messy opening to the second quarter Skidmore struck first closing the Bomber lead to two. Augeri found the back of the net again, however Skidmore then responded with five goals of its own to put them up 8-6 heading into the halftime huddle.

Halfway through the third quarter Skidmore struck again extending their lead to 3. Augeri off an assist from Leigh Naturale, closed their deficit to two with 6:37 left in the third quarter.

Opening the fourth quarter, Skidmore netted one right out of the gate. Kathryn Scallon quickly responded to keep the Bombers within striking distance. Skidmore then responded with a goal of its own as the Bombers' Naturale netted their ninth goal of the game. With 7:28 left in the game, Sydney Smith found an open top corner in the goal and closed the Skidmore lead to 11-10 Skidmore.

With just under five minutes to go, Lily Cody netted the tying goal. With 40 seconds left Naturale pushed the Bombers to a 12-11 victory as she slipped one by the Skidmore keeper.

Mikaela Dattilo made 11 saves in the win, while Gabrielle Crellin caused six turnovers and picked up three groundballs.

Ithaca will host a Liberty League Tournament first round game on April 28 against an opponent still to be determined.
