Ithaca Men’s Tennis Downs RIT, 4-3

ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College men's tennis team earned a 4-3 Liberty League victory over RIT on Wednesday evening. The Bombers claimed the doubles point and secured three singles victories to pull out the narrow win.
 

Ithaca took control early by winning two of the three doubles matches. At No. 2 doubles, Ean Lantzy and Luis Crespo earned a 6-2 victory over Gabriel Escobar and Alec Turcotte. Siddharth Vaada and Siddharth Desai followed with a 6-4 win at No. 3 doubles against Luke Weber and Anthony Lounder to secure the opening point.
 

The teams traded points early in singles play, with matches at No. 5 and No. 6 decided by opponent retirements. Alex Mazza picked up the win for the Bombers at No. 6 singles after winning the first set 6-4, dropping the second 6-3, and taking a 1-0 lead in the third before his opponent retired.
 

RIT evened the score with a straight-set victory at No. 1 singles as Yu Tanimoto defeated Gijs Fidler, 6-4, 6-2. Ithaca responded at No. 4 singles, where Ivan Kisic battled to a three-set win, edging his opponent 7-6, 4-6, 6-1.
 

Luis Crespo, a member of this week's Liberty League Honor Roll, clinched the match for Ithaca at No. 3 singles with a 6-1, 7-6 victory over Alexander Sinclair.
 

The Bombers have now won two straight matches and will look to continue their momentum on Saturday when they host Bard College at 10 a.m.
