CANTON, N.Y. – The Ithaca College women's lacrosse team traveled to St. Lawrence University on Friday afternoon for a Liberty League matchup and scored six unanswered goals in the fourth quarter to secure a 10-7 win. Ithaca is now 5-1 on the season and 2-0 in the Liberty League.
The Bombers started off strong defensively as
Mikaela Dattilo made a save right off the jump. As the Bombers tried to net the ball first at 10:33 remaining in the first IC's
Anna Dahlman found the back of the net. St. Lawrence came back furiously as they netted back-to-back goals putting them up 1-2 just over the halfway point of the first quarter. IC's
Kelly Augeri sniped the goal from a free position tying the game up at two. With 6:09 remaining in the half
Leigh Naturale netted a goal off an assist from
Lily Cody.
Right out of the gate from the second quarter SLU tied the game back up at 3-3. After a black and fourth second quarter the Bombers struggled to find the back of the net as SLU extended their lead to 3-5 heading into the locker room. Strong defensive efforts came from IC's Gabby Crellin and
Phoebe Hosford who each wrapped up the game with three ground balls and 3 caused turnovers with many of those stats coming from the second quarter.
Out of half SLU picked up another goal extending their lead to three. Augeri ended the scoring drought with 11:44 left in the third quarter, closing the gap to two goals. The Bombers held strong in the ride earning extra possessions as Naturale caused three turnovers and Augeri two.
Emma Hardy then scored her first goal of the season shifting the score to 5-7 with 7:56 remaining in the 3rd quarter.
Kathryn Scallon netted another goal with 4:35 remaining. The third quarter wrapped up with the Bombers down by one.
In the fourth, Naturale netted the seventh goal for the Bombers, tying the game up with 11:12 left in the game. Naturale Netted another goal giving the Bombers an 8-7 lead. Augeri netted the ninth goal off an assist from
Lily Cody. Naturale notched the final goal of the game with 1:22 left inching the Bombers lead to three.
Ithaca will stay in the North Country for a 3 p.m. matchup with Clarkson tomorrow.
