ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Ithaca College women's tennis was in action on Saturday in a road matchup against the University of Rochester. The YellowJackets ended up taking the dual by a 6-1 score as the Bombers fall to 3-2 overall on the 2025-26 season.
Rochester secured the doubles point with victories at both No. 2 and No. 3. In the top spot, Ithaca's
Alys Pop and
Sabrina Cheung teamed up to defeat Lilly Caldwell and Katie Yang, 6–2. At No. 3,
Martina Nicora and
Madeleine Sutro battled Lauren Kallas and Hailey Kornbluth in a competitive match, but the YellowJackets prevailed, 6–4.
The Bombers evened the score at 1–1 when Pop earned a straight‑sets win at No. 1 singles, powering past Caldwell, 6–1, 6–2. Sutro fell to Kornbluth at No. 3, and Rochester continued to build momentum with additional victories at No. 4 and No. 6.
Sabrina Cheung and Yang went the distance in a three‑set battle at No. 3 singles, with Katie Yang ultimately winning, 3–6, 6–3, 6–3.
It was another three-set thriller at No. 5 singles.
Ekaterina Kelly would take the second set but would fall to Natalie Debowski by scores of 6-7, 6-4, 0-1 (6-10).
Next up, Ithaca returns to action on Friday, March 6, when the Bombers host Bloomsburg University at 4 p.m.
