Koehler, Bodie Lead Women’s Swimming & Diving Through Another Winning Session

ITHACA, N.Y. — The Ithaca College women's swimming & diving team extended its commanding lead at the Liberty League Championships on Friday, piling up event wins and relay points throughout Day 3 to finish the night with 1,259 points, well ahead of second-place RPI (1,000.5).
 
Ithaca kicked off the evening with a championship performance in the 200-yard medley relay, as Elke Beaumont, Sydney Koehler, Kathleen Papiernik, and Spencer Carroll powered to a winning time of 1:43.95.
 
Sophomore Elizabeth Bodie captured the 200 butterfly title with a winning mark of 2:05.55, leading wire-to-wire in a decisive victory. She reset her program record in the event, topping her previous record time of 2:07.39.



 
Ithaca's backstroke group delivered another major points haul, as Beaumont (1st, 57.41), Samantha Bender (4th, 57.86), and first year Ainsley Lappas-Ford (5th, 58.01) combined for three A‑final finishes.
 


 
The Bombers swept the top two spots in the 100 breaststroke with dominant swims from Sydney Koehler (1st, 1:05.15) and senior Emma Kidd (2nd, 1:06.33), while junior Spencer Carroll added a 4th‑place finish to continue the momentum.
 
Ithaca capped the night with a resounding victory in the 800 freestyle relay, where Naomi Fry, Koehler, first year Charlotte Barton, and Bender clocked a winning 7:41.63, topping Skidmore by more than two seconds.
 


 
The Bombers remain in full control of the championship standings entering Saturday's final events, positioned to secure their seventh-straight Liberty League title.

Action resumes Saturday morning for the final day of the four-day meet with events including: 1650-yard freestyle, 100-yard freestyle, 200-yard backstroke, 200-yard breaststroke, women's 3-meter diving, and the 400-yard freestyle relay. Morning prelims are at 10 a.m. diving at 1 p.m. and evening finals at 6 p.m.
