No. 20 Field Hockey Extends Win Streak to Five with 4-0 Win vs. Skidmore

ITHACA, N.Y. - The Ithaca College field hockey team continued to dominate conference play on Sunday, beating the Skidmore College Thoroughbreds by a final score of 4-0. The Bombers are off to one of the program's best starts with a 10-2 overall record and are 3-0 in Liberty League play.

Ithaca kept its energy from Oct. 2, scoring in the second minute of the game. Toni Ierardi sprinted down the nearside of the pitch and took the open space given to her. Ierardi fired a pass towards the bottom of the shooting circle and Audrey McMahon deflected the ball up and in for her sixth goal of the year.

Skidmore would try and respond having multiple chances but only one shot would find its way to the cage and Bombers' goalkeeper Maeve Clark turned the ball aside.

The second quarter would be all IC posting three total shots and forcing two corner chances. One of these penalty corners would translate to another goal on the scoreboard.

Breeah Shaw would cross a long stretch pass across the shooting circle finding Caroline Folan. Folan would capitalize on this pass immediately shooting the ball up and in, beating Thoroughbreds goalkeeper Nicole Sylvestri on the far side.

This goal would propel the Bombers ahead by two at halftime.

IC would come out of halftime right where it left off, posting six shots and forcing Sylvestri to make three saves. The Bombers owned the third quarter, forcing five corners and scoring two goals.

The first goal came in the 31st minute from Mia Woodard scoring off a corner pass to the wing from Ainsley Grant. Woodard picked up her fourth goal of the season and her second in the last three games.

The last goal of the game came from the final minutes of the third quarter as Bombers midfielder Abby Hennessy picked up her third goal in three games off of a set up pass from the top of the shooting circle from Ellie Gipe.

The Bombers defense was on full display, only allowing Skidmore to four shots on goal over the duration of the entire game, which Clark put aside every opportunity. The goalkeeping tandem grabs its fourth consecutive shutout and seventh on the season.

IC hosts Vassar College on Oct. 10 at 1 P.M. for another Liberty League game and for its Senior Day celebration.
