Men’s Soccer Battles to Draw with Thoroughbreds

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. - The Ithaca College men's soccer team battled to a 1-1 draw against Skidmore College Saturday afternoon at Wachenheim Field.

The Bombers took a 1-0 lead into halftime, but the Thoroughbreds answered in the second half to even the score. With the draw, Ithaca moves to 7-1-4 overall and 0-0-2 in Liberty League play.

Ithaca struck first late in the opening half when Noah Partenza found the back of the net in the 40th minute. Ethan Bellone provided the assist as Ithaca took a 1-0 advantage into the halftime break.

Ithaca recorded five shots in the opening 45 minutes, putting two on target, while Brayden Milbrandt made one save to keep Skidmore off the scoreboard.

Skidmore responded early in the second half, generating pressure before earning a penalty kick in the 69th minute. Colin Goodhines converted the opportunity to level the match at 1-1.

The Bombers continued to create opportunities in the final 20 minutes, with Joshua Bourdoulous and Edin Estrada each recording shots. Estrada's attempt in the 81st minute was saved by Skidmore goalkeeper Rowan McLear.

Ithaca's defense held firm through the final minutes, with Milbrandt making two saves on the afternoon. The Bombers finished with 10 shots, including five on goal, while Skidmore recorded 17 shots with three on target. IC also held a 5-3 advantage in corner kicks.

The Bombers will return to action on Wednesday, when they travel to take on Hobart College in a 4 p.m. Liberty League matchup.
