UTICA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College women's wrestling team returned to action on Saturday taking part in the Utica University Round Robin Meet that was hosted inside Miga Court at the Clark Athletic Center Gymnasium.
The round-robin competition featured a variety of matchups at each weight class, with wrestlers from each team competing in a series of matches within their own weight class. There were no brackets or team results, just one-on-one bouts between each wrestler at each weight class. First year
Melina Georgas would go 2-0 on the day and was named one of two Most Outstanding Wrestlers of the Tournament.
Arianna Leo went 4-1 to earn second place at 131 and
Sophia Torian would earn fourth place in the same weight going 2-3. Leo would record two pins on the day with her only loss coming to Onondaga Community College's Deanna Williamson in a 10-0 tech fall.
Sophia Torian recorded both her victories by fall taking down Utica's Dakoda House (1:23) and Octavia Dragotta in 50 seconds.
Melina Georgas recorded both her victories in impressive fashion, pinning Nassau Community College's Karen Ramirez (1:05) and Utica's Evelyn Enriquez in 1:03.
Next up, the Bombers will compete in the QC D3 National Invitational slated for February 7-8 at Augustana College.
