Women’s Swimming & Diving Earn Multiple Event Wins in Senior Day Meet against No. 20 SUNY Geneseo

ITHACA, N.Y. — The Ithaca College women's swimming & diving team recorded several standout performances Saturday at the Kelsey Partridge Bird Natatorium, earning 128 points in a competitive meet against No. 20 SUNY Geneseo. The Bombers also celebrated Senior Day honoring the careers of Eliza Salus, Ava Palfreyman, Emma Kidd, Emma Heinze, Naomi Fry, Elke Beaumont and Caroline Armistead.
 
The Bombers opened the afternoon with a strong relay effort in the 200-yard medley relay, as Elke Beaumont, Sydney Koehler, Kathleen Papiernik, and Spencer Carroll finished second with a time of 1:45.45.
 
Senior Naomi Fry led Ithaca in the freestyle events, capturing first place in the 200-yard freestyle in 1:56.66. Fry also added a third-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle (5:14.56) and swam on the Bombers' second-place 200-yard freestyle relay team.
 
Sophomore Elizabeth Bodie turned in one of the day's top performances, winning the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:06.76. Junior Samantha Bender added another victory for Ithaca by claiming first place in the 200-yard backstroke (2:08.32).
 
In the breaststroke events, Sydney Koehler earned a decisive win in the 200-yard breaststroke, touching first in 2:21.51. Kathleen Papiernik followed with a victory of her own, winning the 200-yard individual medley in 2:09.05.
 
On the diving boards, Eliza Salus recorded a pair of third-place finishes in the 1-meter (267.15) and 3-meter (250.50) events, while freshman Madison Morris placed fourth in both competitions.
 
Ithaca capped the meet with a strong showing in the 200-yard freestyle relay, as the team of Beaumont, Charlotte Barton, Emma Kidd, and Spencer Carroll finished second with a time of 1:36.25.
 
With the loss, the Bombers dropped to 6-4 in dual meets. The divers return to action tomorrow afternoon hosting the Dick Comanzo Diving Invitational followed by the Geneca Diving Invitational hosted by RIT on Feb. 7. Ithaca will then host the Liberty League Championships slated for Feb. 18-21.
