HOBOKEN, N.J. - The Ithaca College basketball team was delivered an 87-70 loss at the hands of St. Joseph's Maine in Canavan Arena on the campus of Stevens Institute of Technology on Saturday afternoon.
Ithaca opened the first half with strong energy and resilience, matching Saint Joseph's possession for possession in a tightly contested opening stretch. The Bombers struck early from deep, with
Matthew Zenker and
Cole Wissink each knocking down three-pointers to keep Ithaca within striking distance.
Evan Cabral and
Jaylon O'Neal attacked the paint to generate points and free throws, while Ithaca's defense forced several early turnovers and limited Saint Joseph's second-chance opportunities despite sustained pressure on the glass.
As the half continued, Ithaca's balanced scoring became a major factor. Wissink continued to stretch the floor from beyond the arc, Zenker added another three, and
Alex Penders chipped in with a timely basket to help steady the offense.
Chris Leysath contributed at the free-throw line and pulled down key defensive rebounds, while Cabral added steals and finishes in transition. Defensively, Ithaca remained active, recording multiple steals and forcing Saint Joseph's into rushed shots, even as the game stayed within a one- or two-possession margin.
