ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College women's basketball team hosted Liberty League leader Union College on Saturday afternoon inside Ben Light Gymnasium. Despite trailing by 10 points in the fourth quarter, the Bombers mounted a late rally to make things interesting, but their comeback fell short in a 58-51 conference loss.
Union College opened the game with a 6-0 run in the first two minutes, but Ithaca College quickly responded. Back-to-back baskets from
Tori Drevna energized the Bombers, with her first bucket coming off an assist from
Madison Gill at the 7:48 mark.
Kenzie Perluke added a pair of layups late in the quarter, cutting the deficit to 11-8.
Simone Pintinalli capped the frame with a buzzer-beating three-pointer, pulling IC within one at 14-13.
The Bombers grabbed their first lead early in the second quarter on a jumper from Gill, 15-14. After Union answered with a 5-0 run, Drevna stopped the surge with a jumper to make it 19-17. IC regained the lead behind a three-pointer from Gill and a layup from Perluke, then extended it on a big triple from
Zoraida Icabalceta. A late free throw from
Mary Bernat sent the Bombers into halftime with a 28-27 edge. At the break, IC shot 42.9% from beyond the arc compared to Union's 20% and held a slight rebounding advantage, 20-18.
Grace McNamara opened the second half with a jumper, and her second bucket midway through the third gave IC a 34-32 lead. Despite baskets from Icabalceta and
Aila Dervisevic, Union closed the quarter strong and took a 46-41 lead into the fourth.
Icabalceta scored early in the final frame, but Union answered with six straight points to build a 10-point cushion. A late surge from IC—including a three-pointer by Icabalceta and baskets from Drevna—cut the deficit to three with 2:24 remaining. However, Union sealed the game at the free-throw line, earning a 58-51 victory.
Zoraida Icabalceta led the Bombers with an impressive all-around performance, scoring 15 points while adding five rebounds, three assists, and three steals.
Tori Drevna followed with 13 points and two rebounds, providing key baskets throughout the game.
Kenzie Perluke contributed on both ends of the floor with six points, six rebounds, two assists, and three steals.
