EWING, N.J. – The Ithaca College men's tennis team was back in action on Saturday afternoon in their final match of the TCNJ Lions Tournament. The Bombers squared off against New York University in a no-team scoring contest that included both singles and doubles matchups.
The Bombers were able to score three victories during singles play.
Luis Crespo, who was honored this week on the Liberty League Honor Roll, defeated NYU's Shido Ito by a 7-5, 7-6 (7) score. Also coming out away with a win was Samuel Lopez-Cadenas who won in three sets (6-2, 3-6, 11-9). The other IC victory was captured by
Carlos Hernandez who defeated Kaustav Guttikonda by set scores of 6-2, 3-6, 11-9.
Ithaca's top three doubles pairs were defeated by 8-5 set scores. The Bombers did show resilience as the duos of
Ean Lantzy and
Siddharth Vaada as well as
Manuel Gali Specos and
Alex Mazza took their matches to a tie breaker before falling.
The Bombers will now have 12 days to prepare for the ITA Northeast Regional that will take place October 3-5 in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., hosted by Skidmore College.
