Ithaca Men’s Tennis Opens Up the Season at the St. Lawrence Fall Classic

| Box Score 2 CANTON, N.Y. – The Ithaca College men's tennis team opened the 2025-26 season as part of the St. Lawrence University Fall Classic, held at the Sammis Tennis Courts at the Newell Field House.
 
In "A" singles play, St. Lawrence's Josh David defeated Ivan Kisic, 8-6 and Nick Fischer (Hobart) defeated Gijs Fidler by an 8-3 score. First year Samuel Lopez-Cardenas made an immediate impact winning in his debut match 8-3, but fell in the quarterfinals. Luis Crespo would however win his first match and defeated Tejus Ranadive by an 8-5 set score.
 
On the second day of competition, Luis Crespo defeated Michael Georgelis of Hobart, 8-4 and was crowned the champion of the "B" flight when he defeated Alexei Katelevsky of Hamilton College in the final, 8-2. First year Alex Mazza also had a strong debut in the "C" flight of singles where he made a championship appearance. He first would defeat both Trent Sauer (8-2) and Tarang Malhotra (8-2). Also going 2-0 on the first day was Carlos Hernandez who defeated Vivaan Gupta (8-4) and Dylan Trinh (8-4). Both Bomber competitors would win the semis before batting each other in the final where Carlos Hernandez defeated Mazza by an 8-2 score.
 
In doubles action, the top duo of Ivan Kisic and Emiliano Pedrero blanked St. Lawrence's Vivaan Gupta and Simon Philip, 8-0. They would fall in their quarterfinals matchup. In the "B" flight, Ean Lantzy and Alex Mazza teamed up to defeat Filip Moller and Alexei Katelevsky of Hamilton by a set score of 8-6. On Sunday, the duo would defeat Sonny Mo and Jackson Murray (8-2) and in the semifinals they bested Hobart's Michael Georgelis and J. Martinez Barelles, 8-4. They succumbed in the "B" final to Gabriel Esobar and Luke Weber from RIT.
 
The Bombers will be back on the courts next weekend competing against NYU and TCNJ as part of the Lions Tournament in Ewing, N.J.
