Ithaca Men’s Soccer Rallies for Road Win over Misericordia

9/10/2025 8:30:00 PM

Box Score DALLAS, Pa. - The Ithaca College men's soccer team earned a hard-fought 2–1 victory over Misericordia University on a gorgeous Tuesday evening at Mangelsdorf Field, handing the Cougars their first loss of the season whilst improving to 4–0.

The opening ten minutes were scoreless, with both teams feeling each other out. Ithaca remained focused on preserving its clean defensive record, and at the 30-minute mark, Jack Longo served a ball into the box in search of the Bombers' first shot on goal.

These two teams last met a year ago in a 0–0 draw, but Ithaca came into its first road match of the season determined to leave with a win.

Liberty League Defensive Player of the Week Bryson Shaull made a routine save in the 27th minute to keep the game level. As the first half progressed, both sides looked to capitalize on any mistake, waiting for an opportunity to break the deadlock.

Misericordia struck first on an own goal by Ithaca, but the Bombers responded quickly. Drew Warren showcased his skill with a slick spin move and finish to net his second goal of the season and tie the game at 1–1. Warren nearly added another moments later, narrowly missing the right post. Shaull closed out the half with another save to keep the score even heading into the break.

Ithaca opened the second half with a free kick just outside the Misericordia box, but couldn't convert. The Bombers held a 5–2 shot advantage early in the half, with two on target. Warren continued to apply pressure with another shot saved by Misericordia's Santino Jannotte.

Shaull came up big again, deflecting a dangerous ball out of the scoring zone to preserve the tie. With under 20 minutes to play, the match grew increasingly physical as both teams pushed for a go-ahead goal.

With 15 minutes remaining, Riley Donelan fired a one-timer on net that was nearly turned away by Jannotte. Moments later, Cameron Wooten was fouled but bounced back to score his first goal of the season, finishing low into the left corner off an assist from Liam Breslin. Ithaca now held a commanding 9–2 shot advantage.

Freshman Kloden Rapp made a key diving header in midfield to keep the ball out of Misericordia's attacking half as time wound down. The Bombers held firm and completed the comeback with a 2–1 win.

Ithaca returns home with its first road win of the season and will look to extend its perfect record to 5–0 on Saturday at Carp Wood Field against King's College. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m.
