Bombers Blank Blue Jays in Season-Opening Shutout

ITHACA, N.Y. — The Ithaca College men's soccer team opened the 2025 season with a 2–0 victory over Elizabethtown College on Saturday afternoon at Bertino Field at Butterfield Stadium. The Bombers controlled possession and added a goal in both halves in what marked the first-ever meeting between the two programs.

The Bombers came out strong, with early chances from Jack Walker and Colin Adams, both denied by Blue Jays goalkeeper Pedro Miranda. Ithaca broke through in the 37th minute when Emile Antoine found the back of the net off an assist from Ryan Levy, giving the Bombers a 1–0 lead. IC progressed the ball well through the midfield where Levy was then able to slip in Antoine for a one-on-one chance with the keeper who found the back of the net for his first collegiate goal.

Ithaca managed just one more shot attempt in the first half, a strike from Ikey Borde while the defense held Elizabethtown to three shot attempts, none of which were on target.

The Bombers continued to control the pace in the second half, limiting the Blue Jays' opportunities. Elizabethtown's best chance came late in the match, but goalkeeper Bryson Shaull made a key stop to preserve the lead. Moments later, Liam Breslin doubled Ithaca's advantage, scoring on a short breakaway to make it 2–0. The junior midfielder caught the defender marking him flat footed and with an exceptional touch he then slid the ball past the outstretched arms of the keeper.

Ithaca finished the match with 11 total shots, including five on goal, while allowing just one shot on target from the Blue Jays.

The Bombers return to action on Wednesday at 8 p.m. when they host Elmira College under the lights at Butterfield Stadium.
