ITHACA, N.Y. - Eze Chukwuezi '23 has been elevated to assistant coach for the Ithaca College men's wrestling program, announced today by head coach Marty Nichols '90. An alum of the program and a two-time All-American, Chukwuezi was a volunteer assistant with the program for the past two seasons. He will also assist the Office of Recreational Sports with duties within the campus Fitness Center.

"We are excited to announce the hiring of Eze Chukwuezi, one of the most decorated athletes in Bomber history," said head coach Marty Nichols. "Coach Eze brings a deep passion for wrestling, a strong commitment to student-athlete development, and an unwavering drive to build champions—both on and off the mat. His leadership, experience, and dedication to excellence make him the ideal addition to help elevate and grow the Bomber brand."

A standout of the Ithaca wrestling program, Chukwuezi had a prolific career on South Hill as a student-athlete where he competed primarily at 184 and 197 lbs. He amassed a career record of 121-21, which ranks seventh in program history for career wins. He was a two-time All-American (2022 and 2023) and a two-time NWCA Scholar All-American. During his graduate season, Chukwuezi arguably had his most dominant campaign, going 41-2 and winning the Ithaca Invitational, ECWC, New Standard Invite, and the New York State Championships. His success continued into the postseason, where he won his third NCAA Mideast Regional title and was named the Most Outstanding Wrestler of the Championships.

Chukwuezi earned his B.S. in Exercise Science – Clinical Exercise and Wellness from Ithaca in May 2023. He is also an NSCA Certified Personal Trainer and holds a USA Weightlifting Level 1 Certification.

His official start date was June 2.
