2025 Women's Rowing Liberty League 1V Champs

For the Seventh-Straight Season Ithaca Women’s Rowing Crowned Liberty League Champions

5/2/2025 9:17:00 PM

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – Ithaca College won its seventh consecutive Liberty League Women's Rowing Championship title, with a 4.6 second margin of victory in the Varsity Eight race, on Friday at Saratoga Lake's Fish Creek. The win punched the Bombers ticket into the NCAA Division III Women's Rowing Championship with the Liberty League's automatic bid.

Ithaca has now earned consecutive titles in 2018, 2019, 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024, as the 2020 championship was not contested due to COVID-19. The Liberty League team championship title is based on a first-place finish in the Varsity Eight race.

Ithaca's 1V8+ lineup of Caroline Hoskins, Lily Babcock, Emma Hammel, Maggie Farber Zoe Paradis Stern, Kai Lincke, Ashley Bailey, Samantha Gallagher and Beth Roberts overcame a bit of a slow start. William Smith lead for the first 1,000 meters but Ithaca would come storming back in the second half of the race to earn the victory with a time 7:28.011. The Herons were second, crossing the finish line in 7:32.617. Skidmore was third at 7:47.520 and the Thoroughbreds were followed by Rochester (8:02.351), RIT (8:02.587), St. Lawrence (8:17.754), and Union (8:27.912).

The Bombers would also post a win in the V4+, which proved to be another tight race that was won by IC by 4.3 seconds, 9:21.015. Union was second at 9:25.323 and RIT finished third with a time of 9:50.397. Skidmore (9:54.517) and St. John Fisher (10:18.025) were fourth and fifth respectively. The winning Ithaca lineup consisted of Kaelyn Morandi, Melanie Heim, Emily Murphy, Payton Fisch and Brandi Landis.

In the 2V8+, the Herons were triumphant as they narrowly edged the Bombers by 3.7 seconds as William Smith claimed its first gold medal in the event since 2017 with a time of 7:53.075. Ithaca was the runner-up at 7:56.780 while Skidmore placed third (8:17.261). Ithaca's lineup on Friday was Smeena Gill, Emmeline Robinson, Emma Thorne, Julia DiCostanzo, Anna Capodilupo, Claire Edwards, Calla Bobak, Carys Owen and Hope Oliveira.

RIT cruised to victory in the N4+ race, eclipsing runner up Ithaca by over 35 seconds. The Tigers posted a time of 9:02.094, which was followed by the Bombers boat who crossed the finish line in 9:38.282.
