No. 19 Women’s Lacrosse Hangs on to Defeat St. Lawrence, 10-7

ITHACA, N.Y. – The nationally ranked No. 19 Ithaca College women's lacrosse team completed a perfect Liberty League weekend on Saturday with a 10-7 win over St. Lawrence at Higgins Stadium. Ithaca is now 6-3 on the season and 4-1 in the Liberty League.

It was a low-scoring first half as the teams combined for just five goals and the Bombers led, 3-2, after 30 minutes of play. Kathryn Scallon notched the opening goal of the game just three minutes in on an advantage and pass from Leigh Naturale, but that was the only goal of the quarter until Lily Cody scored on another advantage with :39 remaining to make it 2-0.

St. Lawrence cracked the scoreboard with 13:00 on the clock in the second quarter, but Cody pushed IC's lead back out to two at 3-1 at the midway point on a free position. The Saints closed out the half on their own advantage chance with 5:30 to go.

The second half was much different as the Bombers outscored St. Lawrence, 5-1, in the third quarter to build an 8-3 lead with 15 minutes to play. Most of the fourth quarter was controlled by St. Lawrence as the Saints scored four straight goals to pull to within a one-goal difference at 8-7 with 6:22 left in the game, but five cards issued to the Saints over the final four minutes of action led to two IC goals to account for the 10-7 final.

In the third quarter, Elizabeth Green tallied a hat trick, while Leigh Naturale and Lexi Kellish also go into the scoring column. Green scored another goal in the fourth period, while Juliana Esposito tallied the final goal of the contest.

Three of the four goals scored by Green were on free position chances. In all, Ithaca scored six of its 10 goals on the advantage.

Mikaela Dattilo made nine saves for her seventh win of the season.

Ithaca heads to No. 10 William Smith on April 9 for its next Liberty League contest.
