Box Score ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Despite a strong effort in doubles play, the Ithaca College women's tennis team fell just short in a tight 4-3 loss to RIT on Wednesday. The Bombers claimed two singles victories and were able to take the doubles point for the early advantage.
Ithaca secured the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 3. In the top doubles slot,
Taylor Crain and
Sabrina Cheung scored a 6-2 win and
Madeleine Sutro/
Lauren Rodriguez delivered a gritty 6-3 victory.
The Tigers responded well in singles action but at No. 1
Taylor Crain dominated her match with a commanding 6-2, 6-3 victory over Maya McDaniel. RIT secured the next three wins at No. 2, No. 3 and No. 4.
Madeleine Sutro would tally her second win of the day as she took down Abby Murray by set scores of 6-2, 6-4.
The Bombers showed resilience throughout the Liberty League contest and will look to build on it in two more upcoming conference matches. Ithaca (4-7) will host Union College at 10 a.m. on Saturday and St. Lawrence University at 10 a.m. on Sunday.
