No. 19 Women’s Lacrosse Gets Back on Track with 12-8 Win at RPI

TROY, N.Y. – The nationally ranked No. 19 Ithaca College women's lacrosse team returned to the win column at RPI on Saturday with a 12-8 victory in Liberty League action. IC is now 8-4 on the season and 5-2 in the Liberty League.

It was a slow start for the Bombers as RPI jumped out to a 3-1 lead through the opening 10 minutes of action and RPI led, 4-2 after the first quarter of action, but IC dominated the middle quarters and outscored the Engineers, 8-2, over the second and third periods to come away with the win. The fourth quarter was even in scoring at 2-2.

Leigh Naturale scored the game's first goal before RPI went on a 3-0 run, but Kelly Augeri ended that to make it 3-2 with just under two minutes remaining in the opening period.

Augeri tallied back-to-back goals to get the second quarter underway and knot the contest at 4-4. After the Engineers regained the lead at 5-4, Elizabeth Green found the back of the net twice to put IC on top, 6-5, and then Kathryn Scallon closed out the half on a pass from Hayley Armstrong for a 7-5 lead.

Scallon, Naturale and Augeri all scored in the third quarter to extend the Bombers' lead to 10-6, while Juliana Esposito and Lily Cody tallied goals in the fourth.

Mikaela Dattilo stopped 10 shots in the win to improve to 8-3.

Ithaca will play back-to-back road games next weekend at Vassar on April 18 and Bard on the 19th.
