Baseball Hangs 20 Runs in Victory at St. John Fisher

PITTSFORD, N.Y. – For the fourth straight game, the Ithaca College baseball team put more double-digit runs as the Bombers defeated St. John Fisher, 20-11, at Dugan Yard on Monday afternoon. Ithaca is now 10-7 on the season.

IC jumped out to a 4-0 lead after the top of the first as Andrew McDermott scored the initial run on a passed ball. Camden Laney then doubled home Ethan McDonough and later scored on a wild pitch to make it 3-0. Logan Scully capped off the inning with a double that plated Collin Feeney.

Fisher had a strong first inning as well with three runs of its own, but the Bombers answered with a run in the second on an RBI single from Feeney and two more runs in the third with a sacrifice fly from Riley Brawdy, followed by an error to make it 7-4.

The Cardinals would once again pull back to within a run at 7-6 with an RBI double in the third and a solo home run in the fourth, but the Bombers blew the game open from there by scoring 13 runs over the next three innings for a 20-6 advantage after eight innings of play.

Big plays during the surge were a two-run home run from Brawdy in the seventh, a three-run error off the bat of Tyler Pugliese in the eighth, a two-run triple from Matt Curtis and two-run double by Ethan Fantel in the same inning.

Fisher scored five times in the ninth inning to account for the 20-11 final score.

Seven different pitchers threw in the game for IC and Sean Kelly picked up the win in 2.0 innings of relief with three strikeouts.

The Bombers are back in action this weekend for a three-game series at Clarkson.
