WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – The Ithaca College softball team continued their winning streak on Thursday with two more victories; a 12-3 win over Husson University and a 7-4 win against Carthage College. The Bombers now boast a 7-1 overall record as they head into their final day at THE Spring Games.
ITHACA 12, HUSSON UNIVERSITY 3 (F/6 innings)
Despite an early 2-0 deficit after the first inning, the Bombers rallied with a six-run second inning and a three-run third inning, taking a commanding 9-2 lead.
Kailen Winkelblech contributed a two-run single, while
Elise Waddington added an RBI single in the second and another RBI in the third.
Sela Scheinman also singled home
Cate Murray in the third.
Husson and Ithaca traded runs in the fourth and fifth innings. The Bombers sealed the game with two more runs in the sixth, driven in by
Sydney Miranda and
Belle de Oliveira.
Anna Cornell improved her season record to 3-1, allowing just one earned run and striking out five over six innings.
ITHACA 7, CARTHAGE COLLEGE 4 (F)
The Bombers started strong, scoring two runs in the bottom of the first inning.
Elise Waddington drove home
Sela Scheinman, and
Haley Petrucci added an RBI double. Waddington tallied another RBI with a sacrifice fly in the second inning. Ithaca extended their lead with an RBI triple from
Anna Bello and an RBI walk by
Ava Rao. IC scored in the bottom of the fourth to increase their lead 6-0 over the Firebirds with Waddington tallying her third RBI of the evening with a double to left field. Carthage had a big fifth inning plating home four runs but the Bombers tallied an insurance run scoring off two singles to take the 7-4 win.
Mady Rowell earned the win, pitching four innings and allowing just one hit.
Anna Cornell closed out the game, pitching the final two frames for Ithaca.
Next up, the Bombers will close out their spring break trip with a pair of games on Friday. They'll take on Lakeland University at 2 p.m. and Western New England University at 4:15 p.m.
