ORLANDO, Fla. – The Ithaca College softball team played four more games on Monday and Tuesday during their spring break trip at THE Spring Games. The Bombers secured three wins against Ohio Wesleyan (16-1), Lasell University (10-0), and Widener University (8-0) before suffering their first loss of the season to No. 24 ranked Gettysburg (0-3). The Bombers now hold a 5-1 overall record and will conclude the week with two games each on Thursday and Friday.
ITHACA 16, OHIO WESLEYAN 1 (F-5 innings)
Anna Cornell dominated in the circle, keeping Ohio Wesleyan's bats silent with eight strikeouts and had a perfect game going through four innings. The Bombers tallied a season-high 16 hits, with
Belle de Oliveira,
Cate Murray,
Isabella Maynard,
Haley Petrucci,
Jessie Lopez, and
Sela Scheinman each recording multi-hit performances.
Ithaca jumped to a 4-0 lead after
Isabella Maynard's three-run homer and extended their advantage to 12-0 by plating eight runs in the second inning. Maynard hit another homer in the third inning, going back-to-back with
Haley Petrucci.
Ainsley Rogers closed the game in relief, retiring the final two batters with a strikeout and a fly out.
ITHACA 10, LASELL UNIVERSITY 0 (F-5 innings)
The Bombers wasted no time lighting up the scoreboard.
Elise Waddington launched a two-run homer in the opening frame, and
Cate Murray drove in
Kailen Winkelblech with an RBI single to make it 3-0. Winkelblech returned to the plate in the second inning, delivering a two-RBI double to left center, followed by
Haley Petrucci's RBI to extend the lead to 7-0.
Sela Scheinman,
Jessie Lopez, and Waddington added RBIs in the closing innings, allowing Ithaca to run-rule Lasell in five innings.
Mady Rowell and
Taylor Brunn combined for the shutout. Rowell pitched four innings, limiting the Pride to six hits, while Brunn struck out the side in the final frame.
ITHACA 8, WIDENER UNIVERSITY 0 (F-5 innings)
Mady Rowell started in the pitching circle again, improving to 3-0 on the season with four scoreless innings and four strikeouts. The sophomore limited Widener to just five hits, making it difficult for them to gain any momentum.
The scoreless deadlock was broken in the bottom of the third inning when
Elise Waddington drove in a pair with a well-placed single. The Bombers then exploded for six runs on three hits in the fourth inning, opening up an 8-0 lead.

NO. 24 GETTYSBURG 3, ITHACA 0 (F)
The game remained scoreless until the bottom of the fourth inning when the Bullets put runners in scoring position with two outs. Anika Pelekis doubled home a pair of runs, giving Gettysburg a 2-0 lead.
Elise Waddington singled to right center for the Bombers in the top of the sixth inning but was left stranded.
Gettysburg added an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth with an RBI single from Lauren O'Leary. Ithaca attempted to spark a rally in the final frame when
Haley Petrucci singled and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by
Cate Murray, but she was left stranded as the Bullets held on for the 3-0 win.
Anna Cornell allowed just one earned run over six innings, striking out six.
Next up, the Bombers will take on Husson University on Thursday at 2 p.m. followed by Carthage College at 4:30 p.m. and will then matchup against Lakeland University at 2 p.m. and Western New England University at 4:15 p.m. on Friday, which will conclude their spring break trip.
