ORLANDO, Fla. – The Ithaca College men's tennis team had its first match of their spring break trip and defeated Connecticut College, 4-3 on Tuesday. The Bombers are playing in Orlando, Fla. and this matchup was originally slated for Monday but was rained out and played on Tuesday at the USTA National Campus.
The Bombers earned the doubles point as they won their respective matchups at No. 1 and No. 3. In the top slot,
Siddharth Desai and
Gijs Fidler took down the duo of Nikhil Agarwal and Arjun Premkumar by a 6-4 score. IC clinched the point with
Ean Lantzy and
Luis Crespo defeating Krishh Tipnis and Sigmund Winiecki, 6-3.
It was a competitive matchup at No. 1 singles but
Gijs Fidler fell in three sets, 2-6, 6-3 and 4-6.
Siddharth Vaada scored a decisive win over Jules Taylor-Kerman (6-3, 6-2) and first year
Ivan Kisic took down Nikhil Agarwal in three sets as he finished the matchup strong, 2-6, 6-3 and 6-3. The Bombers were able to earn the team win as they would then see a victory from
Luis Crespo at No. 4 singles as he won 6-1, 6-1.
Ithaca College will play in two more matches in Orlando, squaring off against North Central College on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. and Rhodes College on Thursday at 7 p.m.
