Gymnastics Posts Season-High Score at Empire Championship

ITHACA, N.Y. –
For the first time in the 2025 season, the Ithaca College gymnastics team surpassed 190 points as the Bombers finished fifth out of six schools at the Empire State Championship at Cornell with 190.250.

Cornell won the six-team meet with 194.200, while Long Island University was the runner-up with 193.425. Brockport took third at 192.450 and Cortland finished in fourth with 191.950. Utica finished behind Ithaca with 186.325.

The Bombers were consistent all afternoon and scored over 47.050 across all four events. Along with that, all five scoring gymnasts averaged over 9.410.

IC began the meet on floor in the second rotation and recorded its highest score of the day with 47.975. Grace Murray was the top performer with 9.775, while Corey Foster scored 9.750. Caitlin Pellegrino received 9.575 and Hana Miller started the rotation off with 9.500. Abby Chesshire turned in a routine of 9.375.

Ithaca moved over to vault on the third rotation and posted 47.650 with all six Bombers landing with scores over 9.425. Natalie Steed was the top performer with 9.600 and May John was next with 9.550. Lauren Babineaux and Murray each earned 9.525 and Jessica Schmitz was awarded 9.450. Madelynn Farragher got things underway with 9.425.

The Bombers returned to bars in the fifth rotation and finished with 47.575. Babineaux was the top medalist with 9.775, while Malena Bailey (9.475), Nicole Lonski (9.450), Kaylie Goodwin (9.4500) and Sienna Blake (9.425) all executed their routines without any flaws.

Ithaca wrapped up the event on beam with 47.050. Foster was the top scorer for IC with 9.725, while Pellegrino earned 9.600. John received 9.500 and Emily Kobusky posted a routine of 9.225. Goodwin and Steed both received 9.000.

Ithaca hosts Cortland on Wednesday night at 6:30 p.m.
