Gymnastics Improves Season-Best in Dual with Cortland

ITHACA, N.Y. –
For the second straight meet, the Ithaca College gymnastics team posted a season-high score as the Bombers totaled 191.700 in a home dual with Cortland inside Ben Light Gymnasium. Cortland won the dual with a program record score of 192.075.

The Bombers started on vault and put together one of their best routines of the season with 47.775, while Cortland earned 47.550 on bars. Five of IC's gymnasts scored over 9.475 in the event, as Grace Murray led the way with 9.700. Mya John received 9.575 and Natalie Steed earned 9.525. Madelynn Farragher started the rotation with 9.500 and Jessica Schmitz was awarded 9.475. Hana Miller also turned in a stellar showing in an exhibition with 9.600.

IC earned the same score on bars with 47.775, which was the best mark of the season thus far and Cortland scored 48.525 on vault to hold a slim lead of 96.075 to 95.550 halfway through the competition. John was the story on bars with a 9.800 for top medalist honors, while Lauren Babineaux nearly matched her performance from this past Sunday with 9.725. Nicole Lonski earned 9.625 and Marlena Bailey landed with 9.325. Anya Kraenzel received 9.275 out of the first spot and Sienna Blake scored 9.350 in exhibition.

Ithaca moved over to beam for the third rotation and turned in 47.675, to Cortland's 47.800 on floor. The Red Dragons went into the final rotation with a .700 lead (143.875 to 143.225). IC was once again consistent across all six gymnasts with all scores over 9.450. Emily Kobusky was the top performer with 9.675, while Corey Foster was awarded 9.525 and Kaylie Goodwin turned in 9.500. Steed started the event with 9.475, while Caitlin Pellegrino was right behind with 9.500, along with John. Abby Chesshire scored 9.125 in exhibition.

IC closed out the meet with their best showing of the season with 48.475 on floor and the Red Dragons held on to win with 48.200 on beam. Foster secured the Bombers' high score of the evening with 9.825, while Murray received 9.775. Chesshire also scored over 9.7 with 9.725 and Pellegrino posted a performance of 9.600. Miller started the event with 9.550.

The Bombers are back in action on Sunday for the Harriet Marranca Invitational against Brockport at 2 p.m.
