GENESEO, N.Y. – The Ithaca College men's swimming & diving team competed in its final dual of the 2024-25 season as the Bombers were on the road on Saturday battling SUNY Geneseo. The Bombers won four different individual events, but Geneseo for the second-straight season came away with the win, this time 201-99.
The Bombers "A" relay squads wound up finishing in second in both the 200-yard medley relay and the 200-yard freestyle relay. The first Bombers first-place finish came in the 1000-yard freestyle as
Matthew Stevens led the way from start-to-finish and recorded a time of 10:07.83. For the first time in his collegiate career,
Evan Wardrop competed in the event and he finished fourth with a time of 10:24.39. The 500-yard freestyle was won by Ithaca's
Ryan Cooke who touched the final wall in 4:51.19.
Alec Kutsner showed out in the 50-yard backstroke winning the event with a time of 24.64 seconds and in the fastest event of the afternoon, the 50-yard freestyle was won by Geneseo's Jordan Nielsen at 20.98 seconds followed by IC's
Spencer Alderson who recorded a time of 22.20. In the final 50-yard event, which was the 50 butterfly,
Matthew Mitros topped the field with his time of 22.63 over Geneseo's Brian Pabisch who finished at 23.08.
In diving action,
Ethan Godfrey finished second on the 3-meter boards as he recorded a finals score of 325.85, finishing behind Geneseo's Greg Mader who put together a 358.75. Godfrey would put together a third-place finish on the 1-meter boards totaling 269.95 with Trent Makowiec winning the competition for the Knights with his score of 394.45.

Divers will return to action on Saturday, February 8 when they host the Geneca Diving Invitational and they along with the rest of the team will host the four-day Liberty League Championships, which will begin on Wednesday, February 19 beginning at 10 a.m. and finals will begin at 6 p.m.
