Women’s Basketball Secures Road Win at Skidmore, 69-54

SARATOGA SPRINGS N.Y.- The Ithaca College women's basketball team defeated the Skidmore College Thoroughbreds 69-54 on Saturday afternoon to pick up its first Liberty League victory. The Bombers now have a 3-5 record on the season.

Grace McNamara got the Bombers on the board quickly draining a two-pointer 20 seconds into the game. Skidmore then took control from there, rattling off seven straight points. However, the Bombers would respond with a 17-point run; including, back-to-back three pointers from Tori Drevna and Natalie Tucker, plus points from McNamara, Kenzie Perluke, Madalyn Barrows, and Madison Gill to take a 19-7 lead. Both teams then closed out the quarter with back-and-forth play with the Bombers leading 21-13.

In the second quarter the Bombers and Thoroughbreds continued to exchange points, with neither team gaining an advantage in the quarter. Gill and Drevna each scored a three-pointer, plus Zoraida Icabalceta and McNamara also added points to give the Bombers a 33-22 lead at the end of the half.

At the start of the third quarter both teams traded three-pointers and layups. Ithaca then went on a seven-point run with Gill making a layup and three-pointer followed by a jumper from Perluke. However, the Thoroughbreds came back with 12 consecutive points to get Skidmore within four. The Bombers followed that up with eight of the last 10 points to close out the quarter, leading 51-41.

Skidmore started the fourth quarter outscoring the Bombers 9-4, but IC countered with a strong stretch of their own. Including making six straight free throw attempts and two three pointers to close out the game 69-54.

The Bombers had three players reach double digit point totals in the game, with Natalie Tucker leading the charge with 16 points, followed by Madison Gill with 15, and Tori Drevna with 13. Drevna also led the team with eight rebounds in the game.
