HAMILTON, N.Y. – The Ithaca College women's basketball team opened its 2025-26 campaign with a scrimmage against Division I opponent Colgate University on Friday night at Cotterell Court. Despite a strong start and a late offensive surge, the Bombers fell 66-45.
Ithaca came out firing in the first quarter, hitting two early three-pointers and taking a 12–11 lead after 10 minutes. Junior guard
Tori Drevna sparked the offense with a pair of triples, while
Avery McPeek added three points from the free throw line to help the Bombers grab their only lead of the night.
The second quarter proved challenging as Colgate's defense tightened, holding Ithaca to just five points. The Raiders capitalized on turnovers and second chance opportunities to build a 26-17 halftime advantage. At the break both Drevna and
Zoraida Icabalceta each netted six points apiece.
Colgate extended its lead in the third period with a 9-0 run midway through the frame, outscoring Ithaca 26-11 to put the game out of reach. The Bombers responded in the fourth quarter with their best offensive stretch of the night, shooting 67% from the field and knocking down three triples.
Madison Gill and Drevna each connected from deep, while McPeek added a jumper and two free throws.
Drevna led Ithaca with 12 points, all coming from beyond the arc, while Gill chipped in seven points and McPeek finished with seven points and four rebounds.
Zoraida Icabalceta contributed nine points and a team-high five assists.
As a team, Ithaca shot 32.6% from three-point range and 60% from the free-throw line, while Colgate dominated the paint with 42 points and converted 14-of-16 of its free throws.
The Bombers return to action on November 11 when they travel to Rochester, N.Y. to take on St. John Fisher University at 5:30 p.m. for their offical season-opener.
