ITHACA, N.Y. – In their first-ever meeting, the Ithaca College men's tennis team put together an outstanding result on Wheeler Tennis Courts on Saturday afternoon as they posted a 7-0 victory over Daemen University.
The Bombers earned the doubles point by winning all three matchups. The No. 1 duo of
Gijs Fidler and
Siddharth Desai prevailed 6-1 over Lucas Garcia and Alex Lumanog, while
Ivan Kisic and
Emiliano Pedrero downed Rohan Chitanand and Mitch Pollack, 6-3. The final doubles victory was posted by
Ean Lantzy and
Samuel Lopez-Cardenas who won their matchup by a 6-2 score.
Reigning Liberty League Singles Performer of the Week
Ivan Kisic was in top form as he defeated Alex Lumanog (6-3, 6-4) in the No. 1 singles spot. Fidler would follow suit at No. 2 as he defeated Lucas Garcia by scores of 6-2, 6-2.
Carlos Hernandez would win his first set 6-0 over Mitch Pollack before winning the second set, 6-4. Lopez-Cardenas dropped the first before mounting a comeback over Rohan Chitanand winning the second 6-1 and the third 10-7.
The Bombers showcased their depth at No. 5 and No. 6 as
Alex Mazza defeated Riley Fitzgerald 6-0, 6-1 and fellow newcomer
Shivam Udani double bageled his opponent.
Ithaca now sits at 1-0 and will return to action during the spring season that begins with an away matchup at Drew University on Friday, February 13 at 2 p.m.
