Men’s Swimming & Diving Send out it’s Seniors with 195-96 Win over Gannon

ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College men's swimming & diving program sent off its senior class in exceptional manner as they bested Gannon University on Saturday, 195-96. The Bombers won both relay races beginning with the team of Alec Kutsner, Will Stanczewski, Matthew Mitros and Spencer Alderson combining for time of 1:32.33. They would also see the team of Spencer Alderson, Alec Kutsner, Ryan Cooke and Matthew Mitros team up for the win in the 200-yard freestyle relay.
 
On senior day, Matthew Stevens produced a season-best time of 9:46.05 in the 1000-yard freestyle to win the event. Reigning Liberty League Swimmer of the Week Ryan Cooke bested the field in 200-yard freestyle with a recorded time of 1:41.55, which was just over as second and half faster than Gannon's Ben Williams (1:43.38). Alec Kutsner would also win in his individual event the 100-yard backstroke with his time of 51.19.
 
Fellow senior Santiago Ludwig was victorious in the 200-yard butterfly leading a one-two finish with James Moore with time of 1:55.27 and 1:56.98, respectively. The Bombers would do the same in the 50-yard freestyle with Matthew Mitros winning the event at 21.04 followed by his teammate Spencer Alderson who recorded a 21.43. Once again, Ithaca saw a one-two-three finish that was spearheaded by Alec Kutsner winning the 200-yard backstroke, touching the final wall at 1:53.89. Matthew Stevens capped off the individual events by winning the 500-yard free style over teammate Ryan Cooke with times of 4:45.46 and 4:48.55.
 
All three of Ethan Godfrey (285.61), Kian Long (270.83), and Samuel Smith (261.22) scored above the 250 on the 3-meter diving boards with Godfrey winning the event. Samuel Smith won on the 1-meter with his six-dive total of 277.57.

Divers will return to action on Sunday as part of the Dick Comanzo Diving Invitational at 10 a.m. and they along with the rest of the team will travel to SUNY Geneseo on February 1 for a dual at 1 p.m.
