Kailee Payne Resets School Record and Sets a Pool Record at Tri-Meet at RIT

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Ithaca College women's swimming & diving team was back in action for the first time in 2025 and senior diver Kailee Payne was in top form as she reset an IC school record while setting the pool record at RIT on the 3-meter boards. The Bombers were in action on the road against both RIT and Hamilton College in a tri-meet at RIT's Judson Pool on Saturday afternoon. Ithaca was defeated in both duals with the Tigers winning 176-14 and Hamilton bested the Bombers by a team score of 177-123.
 
Kailee Payne who has had a remarkable career since transferring to IC and she continued to leave a mark within the program as she set the pool record at RIT in the 3-meter with her finals score of 355.00, which also reset her own school record. Payne also won on the 1-meter boards by besting teammate Angela Burke with scores of 301.80 and 254.70, respectively.
 
Samantha Bender also had an outstanding meet with the sophomore winning a pair of individual events. She topped the field in the 200-yard freestyle with her time of 2:00.87 and would go on to be victorious in the 200-yard backstroke (2:11.96).
 
First year Sydney Koehler earned a runner-up finish in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:08.14) and just behind her in third place was teammate Spencer Carroll who recorded a time of 1:11.42. Koehler would also finish in second place in the 200-yard breaststroke as she was a little under five seconds slower than Anna Pershenko with her time of 2:32.52.
 
Next up, Ithaca College will compete at the Henry Kumpf Invitational on the campus of RPI on Saturday, January 18 at 12 p.m.
