Ithaca Women’s Soccer Starts Liberty League Play with a 7-0 Victory over Bard

ITHACA, N.Y. – In their first conference game of the season, the Ithaca College women's soccer team hosted Bard on Saturday afternoon. The Bombers dominated offensively, netting seven goals from six different scorers: Sarah Sinnott (2), Allison Heft, Ali Amari, Mia Medearis, Kylee Farrer, and Lily Fusco each were able to find the back of the net. With this win, the Bombers are now 1-0 in conference play and remain undefeated overall with a record of 6-0-3 as they continue their Liberty League campaign.

Prior to the start of the match the women's soccer program honored its six seniors: Grace Hickey, Rachel Hersch, Allison Heft, Sarah Sinnott, Julia Cascone and Carrie Davis.

The Bombers wasted no time getting on the scoreboard, with their first goal coming just three minutes into the match. Sinnott found the right side of the net with a one-touch finish off a cross from Amari. At 16:23, Ithaca earned a penalty kick chance after a foul by Bard's Carina Cooke. Allison Heft converted the penalty kick, extending Ithaca's lead to 2-0. Before the end of the half, Amari scored with an unassisted effort, weaving through defenders and slotting the ball into the bottom right corner, making it 3-0.

Even with a comfortable lead, Ithaca's offense continued to press. At 51:36, Sinnott scored her second goal of the day with a curling shot from the top of the box that dipped into the top corner from outside the 18-ayrd box, with Mia Medearis providing the assist.

Less than five minutes later, Medearis got on the scoresheet herself, bringing the Bombers' lead to 5-0. At 60:16, Kylee Farrer joined in on the fun with a goal, and in the closing minutes of the match, another foul on Cooke and Alexandria Loner led to Ithaca's second penalty kick of the day. Lily Fusco converted to seal the Bombers' seventh and final goal.

Ithaca recorded 35 shots in total, with 20 on target, while the defense limited Bard to just one shot, which was saved by Grace Hickey, securing the shutout.

The Bombers will return to Carp Wood Field on Wednesday, October 2, at 4:00 p.m. to face the defending Liberty League Champions, No. 12 William Smith, in another conference matchup.
