SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – The Ithaca College women's tennis team has
Taylor Crain,
Sabrina Cheung and
Alys Pop competing at the 2024 ITA Regionals this year that is hosted by Skidmore College. The Bombers saw
Taylor Crain get off to a fantastic start and advanced onto the Round of 16 in singles play, and her along with
Alys Pop also advanced after their opening draw on Saturday.
Crain seeded as No. 9, opened the ITA Regionals off against a familiar opponent in RIT's Emily Greb and was able to win by set scores of 6-3, 6-2. The senior was even more impressive in her next matchup with the Thoroughbreds Juliette Ceas as she easily defeated her by scores of 6-1, 6-3. She is slated on take on TCNJ's Zoey Albert in the Round of 16 on Sunday.
Also competing in singles on Saturday were both
Alys Pop and
Sabrina Cheung. Neither was able to advance past their opening draw with Cheung falling to RPI's Nicole Ridenour 6-3, 6-1 and Pop dropped a 6-4, 6-3 matchup to Hamilton College's Grace Qian.
Alys Pop and
Taylor Crain easily won their round of 32 matchup over the duo of Priyanka Challapalli and Grace Qian from Hamilton College, winning 8-4 to advance to the round of 16 on Sunday.
Ithaca resumes action on Sunday at 8 a.m. for day two of the ITA Regionals.
