GENEVA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College women's tennis team kicked off the fall portion of its 2024-25 schedule on Saturday at the annual Mary Hosking Invitational, hosted on the campus of William Smith.
In the top flight, Alys Pop faced Josephine Libby and was defeated 8-1. Lauren Rodriguez competed in Flight B, engaging in a back-and-forth match with RPI's Victoria Sarabosing before ultimately falling 8-5 in the round of 16. Madeleine Sutro won her first match in extras, defeating Isabella Goings Perrot of William Smith 8-7 (7-2), but lost her quarterfinals match to Gauri Muiyil by an 8-1 decision.
Aenessa Rylski successfully defeated RIT's Melaine Saborio 8-3 but fell in the quarterfinals in a tightly contested match against Ellie Fritz, with Fritz winning 8-7 (7-3). Ava Casell-Lapetina won her opening draw against Sarah Oldand, defeating her 8-5, but was defeated in the quarterfinals by Union College's Claire Langille.
In doubles action, Ava Casell-Lapetina and Sabrina Cheung teamed up in the top flight, winning their first match against a duo from William Smith 8-7 (7-0). They played another tight contest but lost 8-7 (7-4) to RPI's Loma Flores-Gonzalez and Nicole Ridenour. Alys Pop and Madeleine Sutro blanked Talia Wutz and Rachel Molloy 8-0 but were defeated in the quarterfinals by a duo from RIT.
This year's participating schools included SUNY Geneseo, William Smith, Nazareth College, Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT), University of Rochester, St. Lawrence, and Union College.
