Men’s Lacrosse Finishes Season on a High Note Defeating Skidmore

ITHACA, N.Y. - It was all smiles on the South Hill at Higgins Stadium as the Ithaca College men's lacrosse team walked away victorious on Senior Day for the final game of their 2024 season. The Bombers avenged their loss to the Skidmore Thoroughbreds last year by taking them down 15-10. Ithaca finished their season with an 8-8 record while earning their first Liberty League win of the season.

The Bombers offense was clicking on all cylinders from the very first whistle. They moved the ball around very well and when given time, the ball was finding the back of the net with ease. Skidmore scored the first goal of the game, but the Bombers got on a roll and rattled off six consecutive tallies to end the first quarter up 6-1. Six different goal scorers got on the board for the Bombers, and they carried the momentum into the 2nd quarter.

Liam Lennon, Jack Giannuzzi, and Sam Baker scored the next three goals of the contest before Skidmore put an end to the Bombers 9-0 run when they put up two of their own, but the Bombers quickly regained confidence. Chris Kiely notched his first career collegiate goal for the Bombers who began rolling once more and was followed up by Peter Nowlan, John Sramac and Brendan Occhino efforts to bring it to halftime with Ithaca leading 13-3.

The second half proved to be a much tighter one, as Skidmore found their legs and put together some impressive possessions. Kyle Proctor scored the first goal of the second half, but after that, Skidmore got things rolling. They scored four of the next five goals making it 15-7 going into the 4th quarter.

Ithaca didn't score in the 4th quarter, but the IC defense shut things down as they held Skidmore to three goals despite some huge offensive surges. The Bombers finished the contest with a 15-10 win and celebrated the incredible effort by all the seniors (Kyle Savery, Kyle Proctor, Charlie Paras, Aidan Martin, Charlie Niebuhr, John Sramac and Hunter Wallace) throughout their four years in the blue and white. Kyle Proctor had one goal and three assists, Sam Baker added two goals and one assist and Chris Sohl won 20-of-26 faceoffs to lead the Bombers to victory.
