LEXINGTON, S.C. – The Ithaca College baseball team walked off Trinity College (Conn.) on Monday, March 11 with a 6-5 win at Lexington County Stadium to improve to 5-2 on the season and extend its winning streak to five straight games.
Matt Curtis, who had a monster game yesterday against No. 21 Arcadia, delivered the game-winning RBI single to plate
Colin Dunn in the bottom of the ninth inning. Dunn entered as a pinch runner after
Connor Pedersen drew a lead-off walk and moved into scoring position on a ground out by
Louis Fabbo.
It was a back-and-forth game from the start as Trinity scored a run in the second to fifth innings and the Bombers scored once in the second and third. IC would then plate another run in the sixth and two more in the seventh to take a 5-4 lead, but the Bantams knotted things up at 5-5 in the ninth.
Ethan Daddabbo drove in IC's first run with a single to plate
Colin Shashaty in the second and then Shashaty brought in Curtis with a base hit in the third.
Shashaty would cross the plate again in the sixth on an RBI single by
Ethan Rothstein and
Camden Laney delivered a two-run home run in the seventh with Curtis on base to give the Bombers the lead.
A run-scoring fielder's choice for the Bantams in the ninth deadlocked the game before Curtis' walk-off base hit.
John Griffin picked up the win in an inning of relief, while
Jack Colyer tossed 5.0 innings in a starting role.
Bo Nicholson and
Conor Burns also saw action out of the bullpen.
Shashaty led the offense with a 3-for-4 day at the plate.
Ithaca will take on No. 21 Arcadia for the second time during its spring trip on Tuesday. First pitch is 7:30 p.m.
