ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College gymnastics team squared off against Cortland for the fourth time this year and came away victorious on Senior Day as the Bombers defeated the Red Dragons, 192.100-190.000. Ithaca reset its floor routine school record by .1 in the meet as well.
At the conclusion of the meet, the gymnastics program honored
Cassidy Gallivan, who is the lone senior on this year's team.
IC began the meet on vault and got off to a stellar start with 48.125 as all five scoring gymnasts earned over 9.500.
Natalie Steed anchored the rotation with a career-best 9.750, while
Grace Murray scored 9.675.
Lauren Babineaux returned to the lineup with 9.650 and
Jillian Freyman turned in 9.550.
Caitlin Pellegrino received 9.500, while
Hana Miller started things off with 8.800.
On the second rotation, the Bombers moved over to bars and had a tough routine with 46.325 to fall behind Cortland .35 (94.800-94.450).
Coral Cotteleer turned in the best performance in the event with a career-high 9.500, while Babineaux scored 9.450.
Marlena Bailey received 9.350 and Steed earned 9.100.
Kaylie Goodwin was just under 9.0 at 8.925.
The Bombers rebounded on beam and posted a near program record with with 48.725, coming up just .1 shy, to retake the lead at 143.175 to 142.975. All six gymnasts received over 9.425, including five over 9.700.
Emily Kobusky led the way with 9.825, while Pellegrino was close behind with 9.775.
Abby Chesshire turned in 9.725, while Goodwin and
Corey Foster each received 9.700. Both Chesshire and Foster posted career-best marks. Freyman earned 9.425 to start off the rotation.
IC concluded the meet in grand fashion with another school record on floor with 48.925, surpassing the previous mark of 48.825 set earlier this year. The Bombers turned in three routines of 9.825 from Freyman, Foster and Murray. Chesshire received 9.750, while Pellegrino earned 9.700 and
Skye Cohen was awarded 9.500.
The Bombers head to Springfield for their final meet of the regular season on March 3.
