ALL-TIME SERIES: The Ithaca College football team will play St. Lawrence this Saturday at Butterfield Stadium in what will be the 43rd all-time meeting. Ithaca is 35-6-1 against the Saints dating back to 1930 and the Bombers have won each of the past 28 games. The Saints' last victory in the rivalry came back in 1983. During this current 28-game winning streak, the Bombers have posted nine shutouts and have allowed 14 or fewer points 25 times.
RECAP FROM UNION: Ithaca extended its winning streak to four straight games at Union last Saturday as the Bombers came away with a 24-0 victory. The Bombers led by a 17-0 score at the half and tacked on a fourth quarter touchdown to account for the final.
Matthew Parker threw for 254 yards and two touchdowns, while
Nicholas Lang and
Ben Marinaccio were on the receiving end of both passes.
Jalen Leonard-Osbourne scored a rushing touchdown and finished the game with 41 yards rushing, 26 yards receiving and 34 yards in returns.
Tommy Moran paced the defense with seven tackles and an interception as the unit allowed just 231 yards to the Garnet Chargers.
PARENTS WEEKEND: On Saturday, Ithaca College will celebrate the parents of our football student-athletes. Prior to pregame announcements, the underclass parents will be honored in the East end zone, and at halftime, the senior parents will walk to midfield.
SHARE OF THE TITLE: A win on Saturday could give the Bombers a share of the Liberty League title with Hobart. The Statesmen are currently 5-0 in the Liberty League and will play Rochester next Saturday. Since joining the Liberty League in 2017, IC has shared the title three times (2017, 2018 and 2021) and won outright twice (2022 and 2023).
ANOTHER SHUTOUT WOULD…: If the Bombers blank St. Lawrence on Saturday, it will be the third shutout of the season. The last time Ithaca notched three shutouts in one season was back in 1988. The Bombers have also recorded three or more shutouts in seven other seasons - 1985, 1978 (four), 1975 (five), 1948, 1935 (four), 1934 and 1932 (four).
JLO UPDATE: With two games to go, this is where Leonard-Osbourne stands in the record books. He is now 66 yards shy of eighth in career rushing yards, 27 carries from ninth and two touchdowns from moving into fifth. Last week, he jumped up to third all-time in career all-purpose yards and is now just 163 yards away from second in program history.
Leonard-Osbourne enters Saturday ranked seventh in Division III in all-purpose yards per game at 155.6.
Another milestone to watch for over the next two weeks is receiving yards. Leonard-Osbourne is just 70 yards away from 1,000 receiving yards for his career.
BALDIN INTO THE BOOKS: Senior kicker
Derek Baldin etched his name in the record books last Saturday at Union as he tied a school record with a 50-yard field goal at the end of the first half. Baldin ties the school mark set by Matt Sullivan and Max Rottenecker. He would be named Liberty League Special Teams Performer of the Week.
NCAA STAT LEADERS: The Bombers enter the final stretch of the regular season as the No. 1 team in the nation in fourth down defense, as opponents have only converted 2-of-14 attempts (14.3%). IC is also 11th in passing efficiency defense at 97.99, 18th in scoring defense at 12.1 points per game and 25th in red zone defense at 63.2% (12-of-19).
Individually, Parker has solidified himself as one of the nation's most accurate passers and is now 12th in Division III with a completion percentage of 70.7.
SCOUTING ST. LAWRENCE: The Saints are 2-5 on the season and 1-3 in the Liberty League. SLU is currently on a three-game losing streak and has scored just 13 total points during that stretch.
The Saints average 12.4 points per game and 236.9 yards, while they allow 28.4 points and 344.4 yards.
Daniel Lawther has thrown for 1063 yards and four touchdowns this season, while his receiving corps of Oskar Baldwin, Shea Goodwin and Nicholas Huhtala have all notched over 250 yards. Will Lederman leads the rushing attack with 239 yards and five touchdowns.
Savino Morelli and Ryan Surhoff pace the defense with a combined 103 tackles and 13 tackles for loss. Liam Perkins leads the team with 3.5 sacks, while Daniel George is another defense player to look out for with 45 total tackles.
THE 65TH JUG GAME: IC concludes its regular season next Saturday, November 16 with a 12 p.m. kickoff at No. 2 Cortland for the 65th Cortaca Jug. The Red Dragons are the defending nation3al champions and are currently 8-0 on the season heading into their Empire 8 finale against 7-1 Brockport this Saturday. IC is 4-2 against Cortland over the past six meetings, but Cortland has won two of the last three matchups, including a 38-28 victory last season.
