Ithaca Men’s Soccer Fall in Penalty Kicks

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – The Ithaca College men's soccer team faced the No. 3 seeded Skidmore Thoroughbreds in the first round of the Liberty League Championship tournament on Tuesday. After a scoreless 90 minutes, the game went into golden goal overtime. Despite Skidmore's two overtime chances being denied, the match proceeded to penalty kicks, where the Thoroughbreds edged out Ithaca 4-3.

In the first 10-minute overtime period, both teams traded possession. Skidmore created a strong chance at the 91:58 mark, forcing a save from Brayden Milbrandt. Three minutes later, Cameron Wooten's long throw-in caused chaos in the box, but the Bombers couldn't capitalize.

Milbrandt made another crucial save at the 107:57 mark, denying Alec Llerena with a diving stop. The game then moved to penalty kicks. Drew Warren's attempt was saved by Will Devall, while Skidmore's Nick Jardim converted his. Andrew Kusek and Jared Krasnove scored for Ithaca, and Milbrandt kept the Bombers in the game with a save against Gavin Wheeler. Cameron Wooten scored his penalty, but Skidmore's Edo Ferrari sealed the win for the Thoroughbreds.

The teams combined for over 20 shots, with Skidmore holding a 15-8 advantage. The Bombers had two shots on target in regulation, with efforts from Riley Donelan and Jared Krasnove. Donelan forced a save in the 85th minute after collecting a rebound from Landon Hellwig.
