ITHACA, N.Y. - The Ithaca College women's basketball team dropped its second game of the season, 73–67, to the St. John Fisher University Cardinals on Nov. 19 in the Ben Light Gymnasium. The loss drops the team's record to 0–2.
After falling to SUNY Cortland in the team's home opener Nov. 13, the first quarter was all about finding a groove. Although the Bombers controlled possession early in the competition, the starting five struggled to land its scoring opportunities.
Despite being more efficient from the field — netting 31.3% over Fisher's 23.1% — the Cardinals found more time and room later in the quarter. Fisher only found one basket from beyond the arc while the Bombers went 0–5. When the buzzer sounded, Fisher led the Bombers, 16–11. Senior forward
Anya Watkins led the quarter with five points.
Sophomore forward
Elizabeth Majka took control of the second quarter. She led the frame with nine points to keep the Bombers within reach of Fisher's lead. The Cardinals upped their field efficiency to 66.7%, out-scoring the Bombers, 21–16, including two 3-pointers while the Bombers had yet to find success from deep.
The Bombers headed to the locker room trailing 37–27 at the end of the half.
It took the intermission for the Bombers to find their rhythm. Senior forward
Annabella Yorio led the quarter early on, putting up six unanswered points in just over a minute to cut the Cardinals' lead to 39–33. Junior guard
Zoraida Icabalceta orchestrated the offense throughout the quarter, knocking down the Bombers' first 3-pointer of the competition with just over two minutes remaining.
The shot from deep brought the Bombers within six, but the Cardinals were quick to answer back with a three of their own. A buzzer-beater 3-pointer from Fisher kept the game well in the Cardinals' control, sending the game into the final quarter 57–48. Yorio led the third quarter with 12 points.
The final quarter was a struggle for the Bombers to stay in contention, but they held the Cardinals to no more than four consecutive points. Icabalceta turned on the gas to notch a layup and another 3-pointer to add to the tally while graduate student guard
Emma Waite put up two threes in the final minutes.
Despite out-scoring the Cardinals, 19–16, in the last quarter, the Bombers could not break Fisher's lead and ultimately dropped the competition, 73–67.

Mary Bernat each notched the first points of their collegiate careers in the third and fourth quarters. Yorio notched 18 points on the day while Icabalceta tallied seven assists. Watkins led the team with nine rebounds.
The Bombers will next take on the No. 23 SUNY New Paltz Hawks at 2 p.m. Nov. 23 in the Ben Light Gymnasium.
