ITHACA, N.Y. – The Liberty League released its postseason awards for the 2024 football season and 15 members from Ithaca College landed on one of the three teams, while
Jake Connolly was selected as the Co-Defensive Player of the Year.
Five Bombers were named to the first-team, while six were second-team selections and four were honorable mention.
Ithaca College defensive back
Jake Connolly was selected as the Liberty League Co-Defensive Player of the Year. Connolly, who was also named to the first-team defense, wrapped up his senior campaign leading the Bombers in tackles (86), and tackles for loss (5.5). He paced the team with two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries while finishing second in pass breakups (6). Connolly also recorded one sack and one interception. Among league leaders, he was third in tackles while tying for second in fumbles recovered and fumble returns. Connolly had five games with 10-plus tackles this season. He ended his four-year career with the Bombers with 225 total tackles (101 solo, 124 assisted).
FIRST TEAM
Jalen Leonard-Osbourne was one of three running backs named to the first-team as he finished the season with 858 yards and nine touchdowns on 146 carries. He also caught 22 passes for 236 yards and another touchdown, while he threw for another score.
Jimmy Mullevey started all 10 games on the offensive line this season, which produced 26.3 points and 388.0 yards of offense, which led the conference. IC was the top rushing team in the Liberty League at 175.2 yards per game and ranked second in passing offense at 212.8 yards.
Carson Ciancuielli was a force on the interior defensive line this season in 10 games played as he racked up 24 total tackles with 5.0 tackles for a loss of 22 yards and 2.5 sacks. Ciancuielli also blocked a kick and forced a fumble.
Isaiah Couser logged 29 tackles as a defensive end with 3.5 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks. Couser notched five quarterback hurries this season and blocked a pair of kicks, which landed him on the D3football.com Team of the Week.
SECOND TEAM
Jake Williams, who returned from a season-ending injury in 2023, served as a solid No. 2 option in the offensive backfield this season and rushed for 518 yards and four touchdowns. Williams also caught 16 passes for 222 yards and three scores, and he served as the team's punter down the final stretch of the season and averaged 39.6 yards on 22 attempts, with a long of 53 yards and 10 punts inside the 20-yard line.
Nicholas Lang was IC's top receiver with 41 receptions for 531 yards and six touchdowns on the year. Lang ranked fifth in the Liberty League in yards, while his 41 catches and six touchdowns tied for third.
Alexander Rice and
Connor Schmitt were other members of the offensive line this season. Both started all 10 games as the team's center and tackle.
Darren Brunner made nine starts on the season and recorded 51 total tackles with 4.5 tackles for loss. Brunner recorded two pass breakups and recovered a fumble as well. He was the punter for the beginning of the season and averaged 40.6 yards on 21 punts with a long of 59 yards.
Derek Baldin was one of the most accurate and powerful kickers in Division III this season as he went 9-for-10 in field goals and tied a school record with a 50-yarder. He also went 30-for-33 in extra points, and he booted 18 touchbacks in 53 kickoffs.
Leonard-Osbourne was recognized to the second-team as a kick returner as he returned 17 kicks for 401 yards to average nearly 24 yards per return.
HONORABLE MENTION
Matthew Parker stepped into the starting role or the final seven games of the season and wound up being the most accurate passers in the Liberty League. Parker threw for 1531 yards and 11 touchdowns, as he completed 67.8% of his passes to rank first among qualifying quarterbacks. He completed 120-of-177 attempts and posted the highest efficiency rating at 156.4.
Owen O'Neill was a menace on the defensive line this season as he notched 11 tackles for a loss of 42 yards with 2.5 sacks, which led IC in both categories. O'Neill finished the season with 27 total tackles, a forced fumble and nine quarterback hurries.
Tommy Moran posted 31 total tackles as a cornerback this season and intercepted two passes with six more pass breakups.
Joe Spirra burst onto the season as a freshman and compiled 53 tackles with 2.5 for a loss, four interceptions and seven pass breakups from the secondary.
