ITHACA, N.Y. - The No. 22 ranked Ithaca College volleyball team defeated RIT in three sets (25-10, 25-21, 25-16) in the Liberty League Semifinals. The Bombers improved to 21-6 on the season.

In the first set the Bombers got four of the first five points off an attack error, a service ace from
Peyton Miller, and two kills from
Anaya Prince and
Gabriela Gonzalez-Abreu.Â

The Bombers then went on a three-point run to take a 8-4 lead with a kill from
Wesley Slavin, an attack error, and a service ace from
Ellie Benedict. Ithaca followed up their three-point run with six of the next seven points to take a 14-6 lead. They had two kills from
Ella Graper and
Faith Sabatier, two attack errors, a service error, and a service ace from
Julia Costa to get the six points.

Later in the set the Bombers got five straight kills, including three from Gonzalez-Abreu to take a 19-9 lead. After a service error, Ithaca rallied off six straight points, getting four kills and two attack errors to win the set 25-10.

Starting off the second set, neither team gained the advantage with nobody leading by more than two points until the Bombers went on a six point run to take a 11-7 lead. In the run they had three kills from Prince, Graper, and
Naomi Clauhs, two attack errors, and a service ace from Benedict.

With Ithaca leading 11-9, the Bombers rallied off eight out of eleven points to take a 19-12 lead, including a five-point run that had three service aces from
Wesley Slavin. RIT battled back to make the set close, but fell in the second set 25-21.

The Bombers started off the third set strong earning a six-point run to help them to a 7-1 lead. In the run they got two service aces from Miller, two kills from Gonazalez-Abreu, a kill from Slavin, and an attack error. RIT fought back yet again to bring the score to 8-7 with Ithaca leading.

The Bombers then put together two three-point runs and a four-point to take a commanding 19-10 lead. The Bombers then closed out the set with some back and forth play to win 25-16.

The Bombers are in action again tomorrow at 2:00 p.m. in the Liberty League Championship game against William Smith College in the Ben Light Gymnasium.
