ITHACA, N.Y. – After winning their second Liberty League Championship in three years, the Ithaca College women's soccer team found out where the team would be competing next during the 2024 NCAA Division III women's selection show on Monday afternoon. The Bombers who downed No. 11 William Smith, 3-2 in penalty kicks captured the Liberty League's automatic qualifier bid and will be making their 30
th appearance all-time in the NCAA Division III Soccer Championship.
Ithaca College (13-2-4) will head to the campus of Misericordia University in Dallas, Pa. which will serve as the host of the four-team pod. The Bombers will take on Penn State Behrend (18-2-0) on Saturday, November 16 in a first round matchup. Grove City (17-1-2) rounds out the four-team pod and will square off against the host team, Misericordia with the Cougars entering the tournament with a 17-1-2 overall record. The winners of each game will meet in Sunday's second round contest also on the campus of Misericordia.
ITHACA VS. REGIONAL FIELD
vs. Penn State Behrend
This will be the third meeting between the Bombers and Penn State Behrend. They most recently played each other in the 2017 season-opener where the Lions won, 2-1.
vs. Grove City
Ithaca met Grove City for the first-time in program history during the 2003 season that saw the Bombers record a 2-0 shutout victory and the teams have not played since.
vs. Misericordia
The Bombers hold a 6-4-1 overall record in the all-time series over Misericordia but haven't met since the 2017 season that saw the Cougars win on their home turf by a 2-0 score.
THE 2024 CHAMPIONSHIP
The tournament begins with sixteen four-team sites that will conduct the first-round games on Saturday, November 16, followed by the second round on Nov. 17. The semifinals and national championship game December 5-8 will be played at Peter Johann Memorial Field in Las Vegas, Nevada.
