ITHACA, N.Y. – On a brisk fall afternoon, the Ithaca College men's soccer team hosted Misericordia University for a non-conference matchup. Despite battling a rain shower for most of the second half, neither team managed to score, resulting in a goalless draw. The tie moves Ithaca to 5-4-2 overall, while Misericordia stands at 2-5-3. The Bombers will now focus on Liberty League matches for the rest of the regular season.
The Cougars had the first significant scoring opportunity in the sixth minute when Shane Macko's shot sailed wide left. Ithaca's Landon Hellwig forced Misericordia's goalkeeper, Charlton Alonso, into the first save of the match. Another chance for Ithaca came when Andrew Kusek's header went over the crossbar.
By halftime, neither team had scored, but Ithaca held a 9-2 advantage in shots and had three corner kicks. Early in the second half, Corbin Lankford's attempt was blocked by a Bombers defender.
In the 58th minute, Ithaca had two consecutive chances. Ikey Borden's initial shot was blocked, and Emmett Enriquez's follow-up went wide right. Brayden Milbrandt made his second save of the match in the 76th minute, and his final save came in the 89th minute. In the closing seconds, Nick Dignazio's shot was blocked, and Jack Walker's header missed the goal.
Ithaca outshot Misericordia 18-10. The Bombers will next host Clarkson University for a Liberty League matchup on Saturday at 2 p.m.
